Mr. Antony Matsika, BBS, MBA, PhD student, is currently the Program Coordinator of the Health Education Partnership Initiative at the University of Zimbabwe (UZ). Mr. Matsika possesses 10 years of experience supporting capacity building programs at the UZ having been instrumental in the successful implementation of the Medical Education Partnership Initiative (MEPI) program from 2010 to 2015 and MEPI-Junior Faculty training program from 2016 to 2020. Prior to that he had worked for 14 years with international NGOs in various financial management capacities. Mr. Matsika’s major role in supporting capacity building programs is to provide oversight on project management and operations focusing mainly on increasing research output through using such tools as mentoring, didactic training and cross-boundary collaborations. He has supported several fellows who are early career researchers in their quest to become independent and collaborative researchers. He has also supported several research teams compromising senior researchers from the UZ as well as international collaborators. He is a holder of Bachelor of Business Studies degree from the UZ and Master of Business Administration from Nottingham Trent University. In addition, he has several certificates in research and grants administration from National Institutes of Health, NCURA and SARIMA.
