Dr. Agnes Kiragga

Dr. Agnes Kiragga; B. Stat, M. Sc, PhD, is the head of statistics unit and senior research scientist at the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI), at the College of Health Science, Makerere University Kampala, Uganda. She is a doctoral-level statistician with vast experience in public health research and use of advanced statistical and data science tools to address health priorities in Africa. She is passionate about the use of data science to inform strategies for improved health and livelihood. Dr. Kiragga has participated and spear-headed several research projects in the Uganda and several African countries in the field of HIV and other infectious diseases including Tuberculosis and COVID-19, Sexual and Reproductive health, mental health, women’s health, noncommunicable diseases and has applied advanced data science tools to inform public health management. She is keen to promote the uptake of science and mathematics among African girls and women.
