End of Year Message from AFREhealth President - Dec 2020

Dear AFREhealth Colleague,
It gives me great pleasure to be able to reach out to you as we draw near the end of the Year 2020 and prepare to enter 2021. At this time of the year, our thoughts turn gratefully to those who have made our success possible. We appreciate your support and participation throughout the year and look forward to serving and working with you in the future with more exciting activities, news and programs.

Despite the challenges of a worldwide coronavirus, AFREhealth is on the move, and is advancing excellence by providing greater engagement and relevant opportunities for African health professionals in education, research, and service. AFREhealth desires to share best practices on improving health care systems, strengthening the health workforce, and introducing quality improvement and evidence-based practices across the African continent.

Through a dedicated volunteer leadership and recently announced Executive Director with committed staff, AFREhealth offers an array of valuable member benefits. Whether you desire to participate individually or as an institution, here is a sampling of what AFREhealth can offer you:

As an individual member of AFREhealth, you will:

Participate as a researcher or implementer in AFREhealth grants as well as provide strength and weight to grant applications. As AFREhealth starts applying for
grants and other funding mechanisms, priority for participation will be given to members.
Collaborate with seasoned multidisciplinary health professionals to access scientific ratings and student exchanges, obtain consultancies, and become an
external examiner.
Access valuable education, research, and service content such as best practices, systematic reviews, publications, teaching and learning materials.
Network inter-professionally and intra-country with like-minded peers across multiple health and related disciplines and communities of practice to pursue
scholarship and excellence within your own field.
Interact with senior health professionals in Africa who can advise and mentor young emerging academics.
Make your voice heard by participating in AFREhealth committees and having the opportunity to serve on AFREhealth’s Governing Council.

As an institutional member, your institution will:
Gain access to funding opportunities and become eligible to receive AFREhealth grants as well as provide strength and weight to grant applications.
Connect with experienced, renowned academics and institutional leaders at leading universities, academic institutions, and national, regional and global health
professions’ education and research organizations who can 1) advise on policy development, accreditation, regulation, education, expert opinions, scientific
collaborations and working groups and research, and 2) fill a health education and research gap in your institution.
Expand your institutional knowledge by engaging in student clinical exchanges, sharing resources and publications, and accessing university libraries.
Broaden exposure to national, regional, and global audiences through peer- reviewed publications.
Contribute to AFREhealth’s Communities of Practice such as interprofessional education and research, primary health, medicine, surgery, medical and surgical
specializations, nursing and midwifery, advanced nursing practice, medical education and research, and health policy.
Become a part of AFREhealth’s continental-wide constituency that advocates for health professions education, research, and service.
Easily access health and academic expertise by advertising available health and academic jobs, internships, and consultancies on AFREhealth’s website.

Will you continue to belong to AFREhealth’s growing network of inter-professionals and institutions and contribute your expertise and experience to the betterment of an Africa-wide health professions’ organization?

Current members will be required to complete the revised membership form for the updating of information on members.

AFREhealth has developed a very streamlined and affordable dues structure that will enable you to make payment on a variety of secure online platforms. In the coming
weeks, AFREhealth will send you a notice which will include the dues structure and payment modalities.

We look forward to your continued partnership as an important AFREhealth member.

Wishing you a joyous holiday season with peace and cheer in the New Year.

Warm regards,
