Dr Keneilwe Motlhatlhedi is a senior lecturer in Family Medicine. She graduated from the University of Botswana with an MMed in Family Medicine and is a Fellow of the South African College of Family Medicine. Having graduated with an MBChB from the University of Ghana, Dr Motlhatlhedi worked in the public health system in Botswana from 2007 till 2011 when she joined the University of Botswana’s flagship postgraduate training program. Since 2017, she has worked as a lecturer at the University of Botswana, where she is based in the North-West District, teaching undergraduate and postgraduate Family Medicine as well as serving as the coordinator for research methods and health care communication modules for postgraduate medical students.
Dr Motlhatlhedi also holds a Master of Science in Clinical Epidemiology from the University of Pennsylvania. She has published across several peer-reviewed journals. Her primary areas of interest are primary care quality and equity, non-communicable diseases and interprofessional education. Dr Motlhatlhedi has served the health professions through several organizations including the Botswana Association of Family Physicians, AFREHealth and PRIMAFAMED. She is also an advocate for community engagement and leads Community-Oriented Primary Care projects in two rural communities in her practice area. The projects aim to address community needs by working with communities to implement a structured multidisciplinary integrated primary health care approach.
