Dr (Mrs) Abigail Kusi-Amponsah Diji is a Senior Lecturer and the current Head of the Department of Public Health Nursing at the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SoNM), Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. She also doubles as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Department of Nursing Science, University of Turku, Finland. Dr. Diji holds a PhD in Nursing Science (University of Turku), an MSc. in Advanced Nursing (University of Nottingham, UK), an MPH in Health Services Planning and Management, and a BSc. in Nursing (KNUST), and a Diploma in Education (University of Education, Winneba).
She is a 2021 Fellow of the International FAIMER Institute, USA, and a Foundation Fellow of the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives. She serves as an Executive Member of the University Teacher’s Association of Ghana KNUST, and as KNUST Institutional Representative for AFREhealth, contributing to collaborative research, interprofessional education, and capacity-building initiatives.
She previously served as the External Examinations Officer overseeing 71 study centres Dr. Diji has supervised over 100 undergraduate research projects and 200 patient-family care studies. She has co-authored over 65 peer-reviewed publications and presented at over 30 national and international conferences. She serves as Academic Editor for PLOS ONE, BMC Nursing, and Nursing Open, and as a reviewer for several reputable journals. Her research interests span public health, maternal and child health, pain management, palliative care, nursing education.
She is committed to advancing excellence in research, leadership, and governance to strengthen health systems and improve health outcomes across Africa.
