The World Health Organisation State of the World’s Midwifery (SOWM) report calls for increased investment in preservice education with emphasis on hands on training. In 2019, the ICM, UNICEF, WHO and UNFPA jointly developed and launched a comprehensive, evidence-based framework for action to strengthen midwifery education as a launchpad to attain universal health coverage by 2030. This webinar shares lessons and opportunities for strengthening midwifery in Africa through international exchange with examples from West Africa, East Africa and Southern Africa.
Moderator: Sr. Mary Augusta Fullah, MPH, SRN, SCM, Chief Nursing and Midwifery Officer, Ministry of Health and Sanitation, Freetown, Sierra Leone
