Rose Chalo Nabirye is a Registered Nurse/Midwife (BSN) with an Advanced Diploma in Health Services Management, a Master of Public Health (MPH) and a PhD (Nursing). Before joining academia in 2003, she worked as a clinical nurse/midwife at Mulago National Referral and Teaching Hospital in Uganda for over 20 years where, apart from providing nursing and midwifery care, she was engaged in clinical teaching of student nurses and midwives, as well as medical students from the various training institutions. When she joined academia, she served as Head of the Department of Nursing and Dean of the School of Health Sciences, Makerere College of Health Sciences from 2012-2015 and 2016 -2019 respectively. Currently, she is an Associate Professor of Nursing and Midwifery at Busitema University. As a Nurse Educator, from 2003 to date, she has taught different course units to undergraduate and graduate students. She has also supervised students’ research on various topics. She is a Fellow of the Uganda National Academy of Sciences (UNAS) and a Governing Council member for the African Forum for Research and Education in Health (AFREhealth) since its inception in 2016. She has been the Chair of the Student Advisory Committee since AFREhealth subcommittees were instituted.
