Dr. Mamudo Rafik Ismail, MD, Ph.D. is a Mozambican Full Professor of Pathological Anatomy, scientific area of General Human Pathology and Infections at the University Eduardo Mondlane (UEM) (2021). He is a co-founder of AFREhealth and has served as a member Governing Council since its inception. He is the co-lead of the Southern Africa Regional Chapter and a member of the Research Subcommittee and the Student Advisory Subcommittee. He holds a Ph.D. in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Barcelona, Spain (2000) and graduated in Medicine and Surgery at UEM (1988). He was Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the University Eduardo Mondlane, Mozambique (2008-2012) and holds the post of Head of Department of Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine of Eduardo Mondlane University (since 2000). His research areas are placental malaria; maternal mortality; opportunistic AIDS-associated infections; minimally invasive autopsies and medical education. Prof Ismail supervised more than 7 Masters dissertations at UEM and UniLúrio, 2 PhD theses, has trained and examined 16 Anatomopathologists (since 2000). He has more than 74 publications in scientific journals by peer review, 2414 citations, 10,774 reads, h index 22, index 1.10. 30, (7/27/21), total impact factor 207,094 (Scopus 5/11/2020), 28 Posters in International and National Conferences, 27 oral communications and two Book chapters. He is reviewer of e-Cancer Journal, President and founding member of the College of Pathological Anatomy of the Mozambican Medical Association and MIHER.
